WHAT DO I NEED?

  1. You will need to qualify for the Program. DO I QUALIFY?
  2. You will need to apply. To do so, CLICK HERE, fill out the form that appears, and you should then receive an email confirming receipt of the application from [email protected]
  3. If you qualify after applying, you will receive a Pre-Approval Letter with a Septic to Sewer Connection Agreement from the City of Gulf Shores, which you will need to execute.
  4. Hire a prequalified, licensed contractor, with a City Building Department Permit to perform all work tasks, including abandoning the existing septic tank and connecting to the public sewer, which typically involves a pump system. You will be required to pay for the contracted improvements. For a list of prequalified licensed contractors click HERE.
  5. Follow AL Department of Public Health regulations by calling the Baldwin County Environmental Department to notify them of your intent to abandon your septic system and connect to City sewage treatment service.
  6. Ensure your licensed contractor 1) pumps out the existing septic tank and 2) fills the tank with dirt or crushes the tank and then fills it with dirt.
  7. Complete all work within six (6) months of receipt of the Pre-Approval Letter from the City.
  8. You will need to submit all receipts from your contractor for work completed and the closed-out permit along with a written request for payment/ reimburse to [email protected]
